The National Wonder of Alex-zander is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.492 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Law & Order are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zantouvious. The average income tax rate is 84%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

The Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, the government's new 'Crime Can Fight Itself' policy appears to be backfiring rather badly, bizarre-looking creatures called 'Lynxdogs' dominate wildlife preserves, and the sound of wooden legs echo throughout Alex-zander after the recent introduction of the Foot Tax. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Alex-zander's national animal is the Lynx, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the rupee.
