The New Kingdom of Albrante is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Prince Johnothan IV with a fair hand, and renowned for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.849 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Religion & Spirituality and Education are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lockingsted. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 55%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.

The government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', a National Academy regulates grammar and usage, procrastination is a national sport, and students who refuse to pray are expelled from school. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Albrante's national animal is the Plains Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Albrantean Anglicanism, and its currency is the Albrantean Pound.

Albrante is ranked 356th in Osiris and 11,515th in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 19 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
