The Republic of Aktyn is a huge, economically powerful nation, ruled by Arkadio Morales with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 935 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Public Transport, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aktyn DC. The average income tax rate is 45%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, motorists must pay to enter inner-cities during peak hours, Arkadio Morales has just been declared ruler of Aktyn in an international press conference, and all footpaths have tollbooths. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aktyn's national animal is the Dragon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Akt.

Aktyn is ranked 407th in Europe and 91,445th in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring -4 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
