The Sultanate of Ainanikhlash is a massive, genial nation, remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its compassionate population of 3.435 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Honorable City of Mikkah. The average income tax rate is 78%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

All-natural foods are becoming a major fad, a punitive tax has been placed on harmful emissions, the armed forces are locked in an expensive and bloody war abroad to stamp out possible terrorists, and the government is making attempts at curtailing the flood of spam emails with little progress. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ainanikhlash's national animal is the cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the anikh.
