The Dominion of Agonia is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Archduke Ignis Lux with an even hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate population of 1.309 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although the Environment and Law & Order are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Babylon. The average income tax rate is 66%, and even higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

The government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative, drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government, droves of former desperados are applying to join the border police, and organ donation rates are among the lowest in the region. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Agonia's national animal is the Serpent, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Aureus.
