The People's Republic of Aco90 is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 970 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bela. The average income tax rate is 67%, and even higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Uranium Mining.

Drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government, crime suspects are forced to submit to blood testing, airport security is provided by private companies, and the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aco90's national animal is the Eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Acolyte.
