The Grand Duchy of Acario is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 10.184 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Law & Order and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 91%, and even higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Legislation sometimes has to battle through weeks of filibustering to pass, Acario's schoolchildren are manufactured into a segregated bunch of soldiers, religious zealots, and computer technicians, it is illegal for police officers to carry out searches due to strict privacy laws, and morning coffees are no longer the same since the disappearance of newspapers. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Acario's national animal is the argorok, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the fyrus.

Acario is ranked 61st in Capitalist Paradise and 58,392nd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -3 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
