Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 2.112 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Criminals are executed and their property seized, several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, airport security is provided by private companies, and the insurance industry is outlawed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Abarrooky's national animal is the horrible monster, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is entirely devoted to small cats, and its currency is the snorkel.
