The Sternreich of Skeelzania is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Kaiser Tamerlane with an iron fist, and renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 11.289 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Skeelzotstadt-auf-Solomon. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, Skeelzania's navy has been named the scourge of the seven thousand seas, more and more students are taking up a career in medicine, and punitive tariffs protect local industry. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Skeelzania's national animal is the 50lb Atomic Mongoose, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the baskz.
