The Social Democratic State of East Dorzhabad is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Ivan Obershev with an iron fist, and notable for its hatred of cheese. Its compassionate, hard-working, cynical population of 1.252 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Social Equality, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of East Krezhik. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

East Dorzhabad is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, the government is using tax revenues to provide jobs for the poor, the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, and Ivan Obershev has just been declared ruler of East Dorzhabad in an international press conference. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. East Dorzhabad's national animal is the Hawk, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dorzhak.
