The Orange Line of 98X is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by Davis Wellington with an iron fist, and renowned for its prohibition of alcohol. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 6.074 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The large, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Public Transport. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20%. A substantial private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Woodchip Exports and Trout Farming.

Government police forces protect public schools from the threat of protest, Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed, homeless people are frequently charged with trespassing on public property, and all streets are privately owned toll roads. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. 98X's national animal is the winged hamster, and its currency is the coin.

98X is ranked 9th in Esportiva and 12,816th in the world for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 4 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
