The Zeonic Minarchy of 7th Wonderland is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Deert Aznable with a fair hand, and renowned for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.132 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Zeon. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 1%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Pizza Delivery industries.

Photographers can be found hiding behind the curtains in Deert Aznable's bedroom, truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news, the people are furious with the government for allowing citizens to be executed for petty crimes in foreign countries, and waste is frequently shipped to other countries. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. 7th Wonderland's national animal is the Acguy, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Zaku.
