Overview • PeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Turkish Republic of -Turkey is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Ataturk with an even hand, and remarkable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 9.852 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ankara. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Information Technology, and Gambling industries.

The government is avowedly atheist, the state subsidizes liposuction, the airship business has been driven out of the country by strict regulations and high fines, and a government program is underway to revitalize -Turkey's beaches. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. -Turkey's national animal is the treaty of lawanne, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Lira.

-Turkey is ranked 4th in Funen and 6,006th in the world for Most Influential, scoring 52 on the Soft Power Disbursement Rating.
