The Kingdom of -_Spain_- is a massive, safe nation, ruled by King Juan Carlos I with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate population of 1.858 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Madrid. The average income tax rate is 69%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.
International tensions are high as -_Spain_- threatens any government with the audacity to arrest its citizens, the wearing and manufacture of fur apparel is banned, expensive lawyers are hired to defend citizens in court for public urination charges against their pets, and pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. -_Spain_-'s national animal is the Bull, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Euro.
-_Spain_- is ranked 3rd in United States of Europe and 109,823rd in the world for Most Extreme, scoring 9 on the Paul-Nader Subjective Decentrality Index.
