It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Healthcare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Helsearc. The average income tax rate is 78%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Euthanasia is legal, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, and the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Huerdae's national animal is the Salamander, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Huerdaen Ingot.
