Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 905 million are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Imperial City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, and Tourism industries.

Euthanasia is legal, crowds of flag-burning protesters tend to accidentally become crowds of burning protesters, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, and citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Greater Ithera's national animal is the Harpy Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Imperial Credit.
