It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gaftonoshu City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Beef-Based Agriculture.

The mining industry has taken a hit from tighter environmental regulations, naturists are jailed regularly for indecent exposure, corporations are either above the law or corrupting it, and large areas of Gaftonoshu are not accessible by the public. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Gaftonoshu's national animal is the Human, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Calories.
