The Transitional Government of Daurama is a massive, safe nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.181 billion are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 43%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture, Arms Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.

Heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste, nudity is frowned upon, all mothers are allowed six months fully-paid maternity leave, and guns are banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Daurama's national animal is the ox, and its currency is the frank.
