Excerpt from the Hiipakuntakaupunki Daily Reader from Thursday November 19th, 2009. "Earlier this morning in a shocking press conference, His Excellency Emperor Gordon I, our fearless leader and ruler, announced the retirement of two of the Ministers of Privilege, Gordonopia's highest governing body. 'Good morning, friends' the Emperor stated, 'It is my duty to inform the citizens of Gordonopia of the retirement of two of our beloved Ministers of Privilege. Effective November 27th Minister Harold B. Whitlock and Minister Brian R. Prescott will be stepping down from their posts as the heads of the Health and Justice Ministries respectively. They will be missed. Both of these good men are some of the Empire's old guard who have been with us since the revolution that established this great and fearsome nation. Their contributions to the Empire are unable to be expressed in words. They will be designated emeritus Ministers of Privilege and will continue to have offices at the Grand Hall of Government for the remainder of their lives. I will be considering replacements for these good men, though their shoes will be very hard to fill. Also, I am announcing the creation of a couple of new government Ministries, with the hope of increasing the number of sitting ministers from 5 to 10. I will keep the population informed.'" |
