Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.347 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 97%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Woodchip Exports.

Rupert Bear is considered to be the most risqué TV programme in Numberslands, only the rich can afford the latest medical innovations, motorists' locations are constantly tracked by intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and record sales of 'child-whacking sticks' have been recorded. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Numberslands's national animal is the Houndeye, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Federal Credit.
