The Republic of Kaukolastan is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Director Kerrick with an iron fist, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 6.427 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Corsingard. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Gambling industries.
Citizens applying for their first jobs face fierce competition from the homeless, minority children spend hours bussing to schools miles away from home, citizens are encouraged to report friends, family members or co-workers who seem depressed to the government for "counselling", and the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kaukolastan's national animal is the Cyber Eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Credit.
Kaukolastan is ranked 6th in the region and 54,222nd in the world for Most Dedicated Public Healthcare.
