The Pure Democracy of Jarridia is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 12.166 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Public Transport. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 83%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Automobile Manufacturing, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.
Citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, agricultural science is the most competitive subject at Jarridia's universities, small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants, and lending firms are subject to strict government regulations. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Jarridia's national animal is the Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Mau.
Jarridia is ranked 996th in the region and 9,122nd in the world for Lowest Crime Rates.
