The Sapot wa Soptim biCanhadast of Yanitaria is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Hannibal Melcanna with an even hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 8.288 billion enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Commerce and Law & Order are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 43%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Surveillance cameras are banned, marketing departments of corporate giants compete to sponsor little league teams, almost all the visible space on TV screens is taken up by advertising, and surfers ride tsunamis of record height and toxicity. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. Yanitaria's national animal is the Ox, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Sheqel.
