The Republic of Vetalia is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 14.989 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vetalia City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

The government is spending billions of taxpayer Rubles to support the Information Technology industry, citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens, vanity is considered the eigth cardinal virtue, and the streets are increasingly clogged with poverty-stricken beggars. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Vetalia's national animal is the Vetalian Gazelle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Ruble.

Vetalia is ranked 13th in Gholgoth and 8,042nd in the world for Most Rebellious Youth, scoring 11 on the Stark-Dean Displacement Index.
