The Empire of Thrashia is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Grand Admiral Thrawn with an iron fist, and renowned for its suspicion of poets. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 16.207 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bastion. The average income tax rate is 35%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Woodchip Exports.

The public are free to vote for whomever the government wants in office, Red Cross demand for body bags are rising while sutures are decreasing, university graduates and new home-owners toil in labour camps to work off their debts, and schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Thrashia's national animal is the Kebaros, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Imperial Credit.
