It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Black Hand of Nod City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Automobile Manufacturing.

All government facilities are built in the subterranean citadel of The Black Hand of Nod City, graffiti graces every city's streets, birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, and protests are prohibited from blocking traffic. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Black Hand of Nod's national animal is the scorpion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Brotherhood of Nod, and its currency is the credit .
