The Republic of Razafas is a massive, safe nation, ruled by President Banan with an iron fist, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.548 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Razafas City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 40%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.

Homeless people are periodically found dead upon altars to assorted deities, all citizens are solely referenced by their allocated identity number, the country is preparing for war, and historical fiction has been banned. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Razafas's national animal is the boner, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the erp.
