Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 12.682 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Education and Defence are on the agenda. Elections have become procedural nightmares due to voters persistently rejecting candidates, a National Academy regulates grammar and usage, criminals are thrown to the Phenixican Swallows to repay their debt to society, and retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Phenixica's national animal is the Phenixican Swallow, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Belidus.
