The Grand Duchy of Noordeinde is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by President Jonathan Roosevelt with a fair hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.264 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Hague. The average income tax rate is 94%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Information Technology.

Door-to-door salesmen are frequently beaten up by 'vigilantes', teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, Members of Parliament operate under a PAYE scheme, and children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Noordeinde's national animal is the Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Guilder.
