The United Socialist Republic of Myrth is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Stavros Djubric with an iron fist, and renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 19.72 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Myrantos. The average income tax rate is 99%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

The nation's drinking water tends to glow green at night, the country is preparing for war, mobile phone masts are being erected all over the country, and major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Myrth's national animal is the black dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Myrthan Soul.
