The United Socialist Republic of Myrth is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Stavros Djubric with an iron fist, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 20.344 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Myrantos. The average income tax rate is 98%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Expats return home to a government devoid of social and environmental agencies, organ donation rates are among the lowest in the region, the new 'Things We Stole From Other Countries' exhibition at the National Museum of Antiquities is a hit, and a large percentage of the poor live from cradle to grave in subterranean wage slavery. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Myrth's national animal is the black dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Myrthan Soul.
