Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 6.245 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pyangyong. The average income tax rate is 97%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals, the government is notorious for leaving citizens with almost nothing from their inheritance, retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, and euthanasia is legal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kim Jong-Ilia's national animal is the Chernobyl Chicken, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Atheism, and its currency is the 7-62x39mm cartridge.
