The New Celestial Republic of Daehanjeiguk is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Emperor Yeongmu with an even hand, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 7.033 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Commerce, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gyeongju. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Book Publishing.

The government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion, the streets are increasingly clogged with poverty-stricken beggars, citizens are frequently held up at gunpoint by their local pizza delivery boys, and the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Daehanjeiguk's national animal is the dragon, and its currency is the weon.
