The Prussian Republic of Calizorinstan is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Harry Arnold with an even hand, and remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 8.1 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

Otherwise healthy people are being sent to internment camps because they have VODAIS, cars speed down national highways while drivers sleep at the wheel, internet service is too costly for normal people to purchase, and seafood restaurants assure customers 'If it lives in the sea, it's on our menu'. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Calizorinstan's national animal is the great white shark, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the atla.
