It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Education and Defence are on the agenda. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Information Technology and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Parents must choose their children's names from a government-mandated master list, the government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion, the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector, and employers may fire workers without giving any reason. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Brutland and Norden's national animal is the Brute cow, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the livro.
