The People's Nation of Alfegos is a colossal, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.781 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The enormous, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 23%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Arms Manufacturing, and Uranium Mining industries.

Highschool principals regularly send armed truancy patrols to drag problem students to school, hundreds of thousands of convicts work as slaves in Alfegos's many privately-owned prisons, citizens are frequently held up at gunpoint by their local pizza delivery boys, and parents must choose their children's names from a government-mandated master list. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Alfegos's national animal is the Fego'rai Bird, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Alfegan Aureus.

Alfegos is ranked 8th in the region and 6,469th in the world for Most Politically Apathetic Citizens.
