The Republic of Mahoosuc is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. A large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, the streets are increasingly clogged with poverty-stricken beggars, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables. Crime is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Mahoosuc's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.
