The Free Republic of Kelanthia is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Gordon Grath with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 11.747 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sarion. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

Suppression of pro-democracy protests is a daily occurrence, more and more students are taking up a career in medicine, spies caught in Kelanthia are never heard from again, and organ donation is compulsory. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Kelanthia's national animal is the condor, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is consumerism, and its currency is the standard credit.
