The Free Advertising Space of Ruritania is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Admiral Memo with an even hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed population of 19.285 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Religion & Spirituality, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Strelsau. The average income tax rate is 65%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Politicians constantly ring their voters to remind them how good a job they're doing, senior citizens can usually be found doing heavy manual labour, schools have extensive counseling programs for troubled students, and government officials have to mortgage their homes to make ends meet. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ruritania's national animal is the ferret, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the sovereign.

Ruritania is ranked 7th in Sev Space and 92,209th in the world for Most Rebellious Youth, scoring -21 on the Stark-Dean Displacement Index.
